New hook loader & new skip lorry to help us increase efficiency

We’ve invested £220,000+ in two new items of equipment – more than £80,000 in a Scania hook loader and £140,000+ on a Volvo skip lorry – to help us increase our efficiency when transporting larger quantities of waste material.

Transporting larger quantities

Our Director of Waste Management, Beccy Roberts, says: “Here at S Roberts Group we’ve taken delivery of a new-to-us Scania hook loader to service our roll on/off containers. It delivers from 15-40yd containers for transporting larger quantities of waste material and we have a flatbed too, which is great for moving various items or mobile plant. 

Awkward spaces

“We also took delivery of a new Volvo skip lorry; the lifting equipment is operated with a handheld remote control, which is fantastic for our drivers; it’s a great help when the drivers have to deliver and collect skips which are located in awkward spaces.”

Driveability

Hook loaders are renowned for their driveability making them perfect for all working conditions and they are well-suited to the demands of the waste management and construction industries.

Versatile

Beccy continues: “These versatile trucks are like the Swiss army knives of the waste management and construction industries and readily tackle urban streets or rural landscapes with equal gusto. They’re workmates with muscles and our new bit of kit will offer us many options with regards our waste management operations, thus helping us increase efficiency, which is great for our customers and the environment too.”

Haulage workhorse

Dubbed the heavy haulage workhorse, the Scania hook loader has the Hercules of engines, pumping out 410 horsepower.

Beccy adds: “It’s vital for us to have the equipment we need to be able to provide our customers with the very best possible waste management and haulage options.”
