What can I put in my skip

What can I put in my skip?

We’re committed to making your waste disposal experience as smooth and environmentally responsible as possible.

Whether you’re clearing out your home, renovating, or managing a construction project, understanding what can and can’t go in your skip is key to safe, legal and efficient waste management.

Range of items

We welcome a wide range of items in our skips, including domestic upholstered furniture such as sofas, sofa beds, armchairs, footstools, futons, bean bags and sofa cushions. These items may contain persistent organic pollutants (POPs), so they must be placed on top of the skip to avoid mixing with other waste.

Please note, additional charges apply for these items.

Plasterboard is also accepted, but with some important conditions: if it makes up less than 10% of your mixed waste skip, it must be pre-agreed, bagged separately and placed on top. If you have more than 10% plasterboard, you’ll need a dedicated skip for it.

Special attention

Certain items should never be placed in a mixed or general skip. These include gas bottles, fire extinguishers and birthday balloon cannisters. If you need to dispose of these, contact our team—we can provide a safe, separate collection solution.

Why follow these guidelines?

Adhering to these rules helps us recycle more efficiently and ensures compliance with environmental regulations. It also keeps our team and your site safe.

If you’re unsure about any item, our friendly team is always here to help. For more details or to book your skip, visit our customer guidance page.

Let’s work together for a cleaner, greener Somerset!
